十三長生圖 : 13 Symbols of Longevity
한국 전통 시각예술의 유산인 십장생도(鋮薞蛺迶)의 유물 및 그 의식에 차용된 모든 소재를 모아 13장생도로 새롭게 명명하고, 십장생을 통해 장수와
번영을 기원하던 옛 선조들의 자연 합일을 꿈꾸는 순수한 기복 세계관을 현세에서도 '자연 만물과 함께 더불어 사는 삶'이라는 주제로 프로젝트를 진행했다.
한 폭의 종이에 멈춰있던 정적인 십장생도(鋮薞蛺迶)를 살아 움직이는 모션그래픽으로 재탄생시켜 십장생 물상과 그에 얽힌 이상향의 설화를 현세대에
새롭게 접속시켜 우리의 전통 의식과 미술 유산을 현대에 재조명 시킨다. 한국적이고 고유한 소재인 십장생도(鋮薞蛺迶)를 전통 산수화와 함께 스토리화
시키고 재해석하여 트렌디한 비주얼로 리메이크했다. 이는 종이를 매체로 평면 채색화의 아름다움을 살려 상상 속의 선계를 형상화한 십장생도(鋮薞蛺迶)를
디지털 매체를 통해 현대화, 재해석하는 데 의의를 가진다. 이렇게 재구성된 13장생도 프로젝트는 절제되고 미니멀한 모노톤과 비트맵 기반의 점묘화를
모티브로 디지털 전자기기 속 0과 1의 비트 세상에서 구현한 선계를 묘사하고자 한다. 현실적인 시선을 넘어 관념적인 부감법의 금강산도(旄邟舝)에서
출발하는 선계 속에 자리한 13가지의 장생물들을 움직이는 동화 속 이야기로 연속성 있게 풀어나가는 것이 프로젝트의 핵심적인 스토리라인이다.
먹색을 중심으로 구성한 과감하고 무게감 있는 풍경과 RGB의 디지털 세계 속 자연의 기운을 은유하는 형광 민트색으로 연출한 장생물들의
매력적인 설화를 통해 디지털화된 십장생도 (鋮薞蛺迶)를 부활시키고, 전통의 이상향과 미래의 이데아를 현실에서 접속시키려고 한다.
The project started from Korea’s traditional relics of visual art, called Sipjangsaengdo(十長生圖); which painting of Ten symbols of longevity. Collecting the whole materials and the things used in the rituals of Sipjangsaengdo(十長生圖) and renamed as 13 jangsaengdo. The purpose of this project was to continue the forebear’s hopes for prosperity, health, and longevity in Sipjangsaengdo(十長生圖) into the current world. Also brings the forefather’s wishes about having harmony with nature while dreaming the pure luck into today’s world. So, the major topic of the project was ‘A life along with all nature creation’. Usually, Sipjangsaengdo(十長生圖) is painted on flat paper to play up its original beauty and express their imagination of Korea’s traditional utopia. However, the project is muchmore meaningful as it reinterprets traditional paper painting by using digital materials to modernize it. The reinterpreted 13 jangsaengdo project is motivated by pointillism, based on restrained minimal Monotone, Bitmap; BMP file format. At the same time, it describes Korea’s traditional utopia with 0 and 1 in the digital electronic device world, connecting the Sipjangsaeng’s object and idealistic folk tale to the current world. In the end, re-examine Korea’s traditional rituals and traditional art legacy to bring up the interests of today’s generation.
